*DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PUBLIC AND
SPECIAL CAMPSITES
Public Campsites: They have toilets
usually pit latrines and water source. The
majority of these campsites are in reasonable
conditions but some are not very pleasant. They
are made to accommodate a lot of people and
depending on the time of the year, they may be
very busy or crowded.
Special Campsites: They are smaller, more
remote and rugged than public campsites with no
facilities at all. The idea is that the area
remains as close to pristine as possible. Unlike
public campsites which don't require bookings,
special campsites must be booked in advance and
they are twice as expensive as public campsite.
In most cases, once you make a booking, the
special campsite is reserved exclusively for
your group there will be no one else that will
be allowed to camp on that campsite. We will
supply you with flushable portable toilets and
temporary camping showers if you choose to use
special campsites. It is normal to have animals
visiting the camp at night.
